We can find an innovative vimaanam, which is found in a different style. On the top of the vimaanam, a flag with Puri Jagannathar is found.
“Jagannatha Puri” is the initial name of the sthalam but later it is called with the name “Puri”.
Before going into the temple, first we should take bath in the sea and then in the Markandeya theertham. We can take bath in the sea by doing sangalpam along with coconut, flowers etc.
After taking bath in the Pushkarani, we need to proceed to the main temple.
The temple is surrounded by huge sheets on all the four sides where a big chariot (ther) can go round it. The temple is segregated into 3 types. The main mandapam is called as “Sri mandir” and inside this mandir only, Sri Krishnar, Balaramar and Subhathirai are found.
Do's and don'ts inside this temple:
- We should not take any product that is made up of leather.
- Taking Photos (or) video is prohibited.
- While entering the temple, it will be wise if you Kaccham (if you are a married person) or atleast dhoti (Veshti).
Kasi, Gaya, Prayagai are said to be places where we can do the pithru karmas. Prayagai is said to be Theertha Brahman. Pandaripuram is Naadha Brahman and Puri Jagannatham is Anna Brahman. So, it is said to be so sacred and great if we do Anna (rice) dhaanam it this sthalam.
We can get the dharshan of the Perumal from 9.00 am till the noon. And after this time, we can see the Perumal only standing in front of the outer mandapam. In the outer pragharam, we can also get the dharshan of Sri Sathya Narayanaswami, Sri Ramar, Sita piratti, Vadabathrasayanam, Bala Mukunda swamy, Lord Chaitanya and Kasi Vishwanathar.
We can reach into the temple only through the south side vaasal. We can find a huge statue of Hanuman. The Garbhagriham is so small and found to be in the shape of Sangu. Since it is so small, we can go one by one only. Lots of coloured and artistic idols are found in this temple.
Another speciality of this sthalam is the car festival (Chariot) 3 great chariots are taken around the temple for the 3 deities and lots of bhaktas come to see this great car festival.
Sthala Viruksham:
The sthala Viruksham of this sthalam is Banyan tree and it is highly considered equivalent to the Karpaga Viruksham. It is said that lots of bhaktas ask for a good life, for great wealth, for childbirth and it is evident that they are blessed with what they ask for.
