For any Divine presence, "Thiru" is always prefixed, which is considered as Holy. Triplicane, which is called by the locals but in Alwar's Divine Paasurams, the Kshetram is referred as "Tiru Allikkeni";
"Thiru" + "Alli" + "Keni" - "Thiru" refers to the Divine, the Sacred; "Alli" refers to the Alli Flower (lily), the creeper pattern of flower; "Keni" refers to the temple tank. It is said that this Pushkarini was once fully spread out by the Alli Flower creepers.
The Thayar of this Sthalam is "Sri Vedavalli Thayar" or "Thiru Alliankothai" which symbolises that the Thaayar Herself blesses with Her Grace to this Allikeni tank; So, this Pushkaniri can be taken the Graced temple tank by Thaayar Herself;
It is believed that having this tank as the centre, the whole area was full of Thulasi, which was found in abundance thereby the entire place was referred as "Thulasi vanam" (or) "Brindaranyam" - Brindha means Thulasi; Aaranyam refers to forest (or) bushy place. Kairaveni Pushkarini is very massive and situated on the eastern side of the temple. In the middle is found the Neerazhi Mandapam, where Theppa Utsavam is performed; The theertham of this tank is used for Pooja purpose and Neerattu Utsavam;
Kairaveni pushkarini, the temple tank of Thiru Allikkeni has 5 Holy spots (or) theerthams, which is included in itself.
- The northern side is the Indra theertham, it is said that donating horses in this spot of the theertham is so special.
- On the southern side is the Soma theertham, where giving cow milk, curd and silk clothes is said to be special.
- It is said to be special by giving pearls (muthu), corals, honey etc., in the south west direction where Meena theertham is found.
- Agni theertham is found in the North west direction, by taking bath in this theertham. One can get rid of all diseases and lead a happy life, also said to be special if one donates goats, cows, etc., in this direction.
- And the fifth is the Vishunu theertham, which is considered very holy and divine, all of our worries get vanquished by having a dip in this theertham. Also said that everything thai is given for others will return with multiplied effects, all of our Purva papams vanish, if we take a dip here in this theertham.
Many Utsavams are very well performed throughout the year in this Sthalam; The important festivals held here are the Brahmotsavam in the month of Chithirai (April - May), Pooram held for 10 days in the month of Aadi (July-Aug) and Neerattu Utsavam along with the TirukKalyanam (Divya Thambathigal Divine Wedding) in the month of Margazhi (December - January)
