Sri Aadhi Lakshmi

As the name says "Aadhi" Lakshmi, she is said to be the first among all the Lakshmi.

Once in Sri Vaikundam, Thirumaal was along with Maha Lakshmi and there came an apsaras who had the capacity to make even the Devars attracted towards her with the great music. On hearing the music of the apsaras, Sri Maha Lakshmi gave the garland that is worn on her to that woman.

And on the way, the apsaras saw Duruvasa muni and gave the garland to him. Getting the garland, Duruvasa muni went and on his way, he saw Indiran and gave the garland to him as it might be helpful and thought that the garland is to be with him. But as he got the garland, he threw it towards the Iyravadha (the elephant) and on seeing the garland being ignored, Duruvasa muni gave the sabham that all of his wealth and health should diminish and he should be properly punished for his act and left the place at once.

As the sabham got from the muni, Devendran Indiran lost his position of king of Devars; Indra lokam was conquered by the Asuras, finally all the Devars seeked the help of Sriman Narayanan.

Paranthaman explained them that the time for taking the Koormavathar has come and said that the Devars will regain all the lost wealth soon. But, at the same time, Sriman Narayanan explained that the Devars alone cannot grind the Paarkadal and they have to seek the help of Asuras. And as said to seek the Narayanan, the Devars seeked the help of Asuras and agreed to help them.

And finally, on the head side of the Vasuki snake, the Asuras stood and towards the tail part, the Devars stood. Vasuki snake is used as the 'rope' and the Manthara Mountain is used as the 'Matthu' (used for grinding purpose). Both the Asuras and Devars started to grind the Paarkadal. Both of them with lost of efforts ground and all became tired and even the snake Vasuki and it started to release the poison air. As a result of this, the Asuras felt very much tired but still they ground and finally, the precious things started to come out of the Paarkadal. First the Aalakala visham (Poison) came out of it and Lord Shivan took that poison and as a result, he got the name "thiru neela kandar" (Kandam means the throat; since lord Shivan took the poison, his throat part changed into blue (neelam) colour).

After then, Ucchavaras, Kamadhenu, Iyravadham, Kousthubham, Chandran came out. Then, Moodevi (elder - to Sri Lakshmi) came out She married utthalagar Muni. Then came Sri Lakshmi and she got herself married to Sriman Narayanan. And after Sri Lakshmi, Dhanvantri came out from the Paarkadal with the Amirtha Kalasam in his hands. And, finally, their lost wealth's back and Devendran, Indiran once again got back his Indra Lokam.

The Lakshmi, who came out of Paarkadal is Sri Aadhi Lakshmi and Ketharan, Neelar, Nalar, Kashypar, Agni, Guberan etc worshipped her.
